Days One, Two, Three and Four
Saturday, November 4, to Tuesday, November 7 2006 (48 matches per day/192 in total)
All matches are race-to-eight alternate break, with two points for a win.
For the first four days of competition, the 128 players are divided into 32 Groups of 4 players.
Within each Group, all players play each other once, so each competitor will play at least three times in the championships.
The top two in each group move forward to the knockout stages with the rest of the players eliminated.
If two players are equal on points, the following will apply:
- The higher position goes to the player scoring the most racks overall
- If this is equal, it will go to the player conceding the least racks
- In the event of this being the same, the higher position will go to the player who won the Group match between the two
- If three players finish on level points then the results involving those three players will be studied to see who has the best record.
Day Five
Wednesday, November 8 (32 matches)
Second Round (last 64) - Race to Ten – Alternate breaks
The draw for the last 64 is made by compiling a league table of the qualifying players using their results in the First Round Group Play and arranging them in order of achievement during the First Round Group Play.
The players winning their Groups will be at the top and players in fourth place will be at the bottom. Player 1 will then play player 64, player 2 will face player 63 and so on. This will then make up the single elimination bracket.
Day Six
Thursday, November 9 (16 matches)
Third round (last 32) – race to ten - Alternate breaks.
Day Seven
Friday, November 10 (8 matches)
Fourth round (last 16) - race-to-11 - Alternate breaks
