The World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) is the governing body for pool and administers the game at many levels across the globe. Membership of the WPA is made up of its continental members. Individual national associations are in turn members of the continental associations.

The continental members of the WPA are:

AAPA -- All Africa Pool Association
APBU -- Asian Pocket Billiard Union
BCA – Billiards Congress of America
CPB – Confederation Panamerica of Billiards
EPBF – European Pocket Billiard Federation
OPBA – Oceania Pocket Billiards Association

Every year the WPA World Championships are organized for men, women and juniors. Since 1999, Matchroom Sport of the United Kingdom has organized the men’s World Championship.

In addition, the WPA is at the forefront of the movement to include billiard sports in the Olympic Games.
